This step-by-step guide is designed to walk you through the process of changing your OOB Enablers to Edge Mode as well as removing Litehttpd on your OOB enablers. By following these steps, you'll be able to strengthen the security of your network environment and minimize the risk of unauthorized access or malicious attacks.

2. Setting the OOB Enabler to Edge Mode

Things you will need:
- A host PC
- Ethernet Cable
- OOB Enabler
- Firmware that you want to upgrade to. (Download the new firmware with Lighthttpd removed here.)
Step 1 - Connect OOB Enabler to Host PC
Connect the OOB Enabler to the host PC using an Ethernet cable. Modify the IP address of the host PC to be on the same subnet (192.168.0.xxx) as the OOB Enabler.
Note:
By default, the IP Address of OOB Enabler is 192.168.0.100 |
(Example of setting the IP address of host PC to be 192.168.0.2)
Step 2 - Enter the OOB Enabler Configuration Page
On the host PC, open a browser window and enter the OOB Enabler IP Address: 192.168.0.100 to access the OOB Enabler Configuration page.

It is recommended to open the enter the OOB Enabler Configuration page in Incognito mode. |
Step 1 - Change the Setting
On the left hand side of the menu, set the Allxon SwiftDR OOB Enabler Mode to Edge Mode. The process will take approximately 90 seconds.
After approximately 90 seconds, when the Allxon SwiftDR OOB Enabler Mode displays as Edge Mode, it indicates the completion of the operation.
Step 2 - Power Off OOB Enabler
Power off OOB Enabler by unplugging the power cord from AAEON Boxer-8645AI.
Note:
It is necessary to unplug the power cord of AAEON Boxer-8645AI. Pressing the Power Button on AAEON Boxer-8645AI will not work. |
Step 3 - Get Ready for Provisioning OOB Enabler
Connect the OOB Enabler to Internet.
Step 4 - Power On OOB Enabler and Start Provisioning
Power on OOB Enabler by pluggin in the power cord of AAEON Boxer-8645AI.
Step 5 - Start Provisioning OOB Enabler
Once the OOB Enabler is powered on, the provisioning process will start automatically. The entire provisioning process may take about 2~3 minutes.
Check the LEDs on the OOB Enabler. When both the LEDs are steady on (not blinking), it indicates successful provisioning.
Step 1 - Power Off & Power On OOB Enabler
Once the OOB Enabler has been successfully provisioned, please power off the OOB Enabler by unplugging the power cord of the AAEON Boxer-8645AI first, and then plug it back in to power on the OOB Enabler.
Step 2 - Connect OOB Enabler to Host PC
Follow Section 1.2 Connect OOB Enabler to Host PC to log in and access the OOB Enabler Configuration page.

It is recommended to open the enter the OOB Enabler Configuration page in Incognito mode. |
Step 1 - Select the new firmware to Upgrade Firmware
In the left hand side of the menu, click on the "Choose File" button and select the new firmware file
- Allxon_OOB_FW_3_2_1_20240216.tar.gz (download here).
(Select the firmware file)
(Confirm the file name and click on Start Upgrading button)
(The process of upgrading may take up to 5 minutes)
(The OOB Enabler Configuration page will be unaccessible while upgrading)
Step 2 - Confirm the Upgrade
(After successfully upgrading, the OOB Enabler will reboot itself, and you'll be redirected to the OOB Enabler Configuration login page.)
(The Firmware Version will be displayed as swiftDR_PC_v3.2.1_20240216_PROD_YUAN)
Once the firmware has been upgraded, remove the jumper on the OOB Enabler. This action will remove the Lighthttpd service.
(Jumper removed)
Step 2 - Confirm the Removal of Lighthttpd
Once the jumper has been removed, the Lighthttpd service will be removed. Confirm the removal by checking the accessibility of OOB Enabler Configuration page (192.168.0.100).
